Location Brick streets lined with 19th century historical homes serve as the setting for the St. Francis Inn, situated in St. Augustine, Fla. This bed and breakfast is located two blocks from the Matanzas River and three blocks from Flagler College. Restaurants, museums, galleries, antique shops, historic sites and shopping are all within walking distance. Horse and buggy rides, evening ghost tours, and bay front cruises are all available to give unique perspectives on this historical city.
Hotel Features. The St. Francis Inn was constructed in the Second Spanish Colonial Period and features an expansive garden with banana trees, bougainvillea and tropical flowers. The garden is enclosed by a walled courtyard, a feature popular in houses of this period. An outdoor pool is available for guests staying at both the St. Francis Inn and the inn's sister property. A full hot breakfast consisting of two hot entrees, freshly baked pastries and breads, fresh fruit, granola, cereal and yogurt is served each morning. Complimentary snacks and beverages are available all day, and the innkeepers host a social each evening. Chauffeur service (with advance notice is offered in the evenings during weekends and holidays, and will bring guests to local bars and restaurants as well as cultural and entertainment venues.
Guestrooms. Fresh flowers and sherry adorn the guestrooms at the St. Francis Inn, all of which have private baths and antique or reproduction furniture. Premium rooms have jetted spa tubs, and some rooms have fireplaces and garden or city view balconies. Many rooms are equipped with refrigerators.
Expert Tip. Guests of the Inn receive a 50% discount on admission to the nearby "Oldest House," the oldest surviving Spanish Colonial dwelling in Florida. Guests also receive complimentary admission to the St. Augustine Lighthouse and Museum, and discounts on purchases made at the gift shops.
