Constructed in 1888 and once host to the King and Queen of Spain, the Casa Monica Hotel, is a restored Moorish revivalist castle. Centrally located in historic St. Augustine, Fla., the five story hotel is a block from St. George Street's shops and one half mile from the Castillo de San Marcos and the Old St. Augustine Village. The St. Augustine beach is five miles from the Casa Monica Hotel.
History and romance come alive at the Casa Monica Hotel, providing a unique experience. An arched roof entryway looms over a cobblestone path leading to the Moroccan style lobby that features a fountain and tiled floors. A sweeping staircase takes guests down to a sundeck overlooking a pool. Shoppers can delight in the hotel's jewelry shop, perfume shop and art gallery. Guests young and old can enjoy the walking ghost tour, for a fee, of St. Augustine. The guided tour visits hundred year old homes and the Castillo de San Marcos, widely believed to be haunted.
Meeting space is available for business needs or private parties, and the hotel offers audiovisual equipment, complimentary high speed Internet access and business services. After a day of sightseeing, guests can relax at 95 Cordova, a Mediterranean style restaurant, where the cuisine is a mixture of American, Middle Eastern and Asian fare. A coffee shop, poolside service and lobby bar are alternate dining options.
The Casa Monica Hotel's luxurious accommodations are unique no two rooms are alike. Many of the suites feature Spanish style furnishings selected to recapture the hotel's romantic past and include wrought iron beds and mahogany tables. The hotel offers 138 guestrooms and 14 suites.
