Location. The Gailes Hotel is located in Gailes, Scotland, in Burns country and within 400 yards of the ocean. It is two miles of Dundonald Castle, four miles from Troon, and 0.5 miles from of Irvine train station.

Locally sourced produce is used wherever possible, such as Scottish beef from Tarelgin Farm and cheeses from the Isle or Arran. Menu choices include a Feathered Nest of Melon with Citrus Sorbet, and Whisky Smoked Haddock and Garden Pea Risotto. Drinks can be enjoyed in the open plan lounge bar.

Guests can enjoy playing golf on the hotel's nine hole course, while nearby activities include boating, fishing, ice skating and swimming. There is a children's playground in the area, as well as tennis courts.

There are 40 guestrooms built over two floors with contemporary decor featuring pale, painted walls, subtle lighting, modern wood furniture and soft furnishings in muted colours brightened by sixties inspired patterned cushions. All have complimentary Internet connections, tea and coffee makers and televisions. Bathrooms include complimentary toiletries and hair dryers.
Expert Tip. Situated on a hill above the village the castle, Dundonald Castle has some of the best views of Ayrshire. When visiting, it's worth taking a walk from the castle up to the ruins of Auchans House. Part of the formal path has been upgraded, and it's a lovely stroll through the flora and fauna of the ancient wood.
