Location. The Palazzo Giarac? is located on Ortigia Island in Siracuse, Italy, 100 metres from the cathedral and 1.5 kilometres from the Greek Neopolis. Siracusa train station is three kilometres away.
Hotel Features. Situated on the seafront in the old centre of the city, Palazzo Giarac? was built by the architect Carl Sada in 1892 and has recently been sympathetically restored. A marble stairway and glass skylight are among original features on show in this four storey property (accessible by lift). Safe deposit boxes and complimentary newspapers are provided at the front desk, where multilingual staff can assist with travel and tourist arrangements. For guests arriving by car, parking is available nearby (surcharge).
The setting for breakfast is in the lobby caf? (surcharge) where drinks are served throughout the day. A room service menu is available during limited hours.
Scooters can be hired in the vicinity and are a good means by which to explore the area. Fishing excursions can be organised at the seafront.
Guestrooms. The 27 air conditioned guestrooms have cream coloured walls, high ceilings and dark wood, baroque style furniture. Floral fabrics in soft tones blend with the traditional decor. All rooms are equipped with satellite television, direct dial phones, dial up Internet connections, and minibars. Private bathrooms are fitted with bidets, showers, and hair dryers.
Expert Tip. The Archaeological Park of Neapolis contains a number of ancient sites, including Greek and Roman amphitheatres, the tomb of Archimedes, a sacrificial altar, and a necropolis.
